Teenage Angst

VIS1 final project. Bah. Alice and Ophelia are CG'ed and the frame and the foo dog were printed directly some shops online. The rest of the painting is done in gouache. Let me tell you, I REALLY hate working with wet media. In fact, I hate working with anything that's not on the computer. ~_~
Now to subject matter. I originally didn't know what I was working with, but the requirements for the project were to incorporate "high art" (in otherwords fine art) with a form of "low art" and some nonwestern aspect. So I grabbed the painting of Ophelia Drowning and American McGee's Alice, a game character, and put them together in a relationship in that they're both angsty teenagers who went through a lot of shit, but the difference lies in that Ophelia gave up (aka took her own life) whereas Alice (remember wonderland?) continues to fight and refuses to give up. So what's up with this painting is that Alice represents the will to fight as well as put those who are weak out of their misery. Survival of the fittest? Anyhow, the process started from the original painting of Ophelia in the river, and she ended up drowning (well murdered first) in a bathtub somewhere in the twisted world of Alice's wonderland. As Alice stands by with a smirk. The little hole the water flows into is actually the hole the White Rabbit runs into, but it looks more like an ordinary mousehole there. The foo dog is my cultural aspect ::coughs:: horribly placed but will do, standing in a frame by Alice, guarding her (as it does in the Buddhist beliefs) as the Cheshire Cat would. So I guess you could say that the foo dog replaced Cheshire for some bizarre reason. Who knows.
Annoyances. I didn't paint the white checkerboard. it's negative space. It's paper. FUCK IT. Secondly, the room behind that door is terribly done. Fuck that too, too tired. I worked all night up til 10am this morning. ~_~
