My Dream Home

Pairing: Zell Dincht & Squall Leonhart

Theme: 30 Kisses # 25 - Fence
Status: one-shot, finished

Rating: G
Warnings: n/a

Notes: One perfectly innocent drabble. Maybe a little too ambiguous, but heh. I also cannot remember what the Dincht house looks like, so I kinda fudged it a bit. Hehehe.

I've always wanted a cozy house in a nice neighborhood, not too quiet, not too loud. I always thought, when my SeeD days are over, I would settle down in Fisherman's Harbour and seclude myself. Now that Seifer is living there, I've been forced to rethink my dream location.

"I want to move to Timber! I think it's romantic~!"

"Now now, do we really want to disturb the sanctity of Rinoa's hometown?" ushered a grinning Irvine.

"What sanctity, she told me Timber has the hottest night club after hours!" thumped a determined Selphie.

"I thought you just said you think it's romantic," he quirked a brow under his cowboy hat.

"It's got both, just right for you and me," Selphie said with a grin.

Well, that rules out Timber, even though it wouldn't have been ideal either, given that I would be under the watchful eye of my ex-girlfriend's father and his goonies.

"Hey Squall, what about you?"

The sound of my name snapped me out of my reverie, and I looked at Selphie, pretending as if I wasn't listening in the first place.

"Where would you want to move? Winhill? Your uh I mean Laguna's got his old place there and since he hardly goes, would you want to move there?" she piped.

"No," I said flatly.

"What about Esthar? I remember those presidential suites even though we never got to stay in one. Pretty sweet, won't you say?" Irvine grinned, rather pleased with himself for some stupid reason probably.

I wince inwardly. Why must they always think that I would want to be associated with that doofus? He might be my father, but I certainly don't feel like his son. So that rules out Winhill and Esthar...

"Earth to Squall! Anyone home?"

"......"

Selphie shrugged when I didn't respond. "Hm, well what about Zell? Where would you think he'd want to move?"

"Zell already has a home, he's a momma's boy, remember?" mused Irvine.

"Ohhh right! I forget," she smacked herself soundly on the forehead. "Hey Squall, what about Dollet? It's got a nice view and everything!"

And Zell, you mean. Do I really want to be living near him? Isn't it enough that I have to put up with his boundless energy now, do I really have to put up with it for the rest of my life?

"Selphie, sweetie, I don't think Squall's even listening to us," Irvine patted her shoulder gently.

"Hey guys, what are you all talking about?" a familiar voice interrupted, soon to be joined by the matching feral grin, tattoo, and gelled blond hair that was so difficult to miss as Zell came sprinting towards us.

"We were just talking about where we'd want to live once all this is over, you know, where to settle!" Selphie answered.

"Interesting, so fill me in!" Zell grinned between the happy couple.

"Well, we we haven't decided on a location just yet, but I think Timber's a good place to settle down!"

"Yeah, you think Timber's nice," scoffed Irvine.

"Hey!! I took your interests into consideration too!" Selphie said loudly, smacking Irvine's arm in the process.

"Okay okay! Timber's great!"

"Heh heh..." smirked Selphie. "You'd want to go back home to Dollet, though, right, Zell?" she added a moment later.

"Uh, well, I guess so... that or..." Zell mumbled.

"Or? You have another place in mind? SPILL IT!" Selphie demanded.

"I don't know honestly, I haven't given it much thought, but I don't think I'd mind any place as long as I'm with the person I love, right?" Zell said, rubbing the back of his head.

"Ooooooh do you have someone in mind?" Selphie elbowed Zell, mischief written all over her face.

As much as I had been trying to ignore this conversation, I found myself looking at Zell and waiting for his answer. He blushed some more and looked back and forth like a cornered chocobo.

"Well, I, uh, yeah I do, but, it's just in my mind," his cheeks a shade of pink that even his tribal tattoo couldn't hide.

"I want to know!! Who is it?" Selphie leaned in, eyes gleaming.

"Now now, it's not polite to ask, let the man answer when he's ready," Irvine soothed his girlfriend, although his expression betrayed his inner thoughts.

Looking at Zell now, I realized that if I were to say anything at all, this would be the time.

"I think Dollet's a good place to live," I said quietly but loud enough for the group of three to hear.

"Huh, Squall? I didn't think you were listening to us," Irvine straightened up, looking over at me.

"I also decided I'd like a two-story house with a view and a white fence around it."

"Wow, isn't that a little specific?" Selphie pondered aloud, looking skyward.

"Yeah, how about a little too specific," Irvine raised a questionable yet amused eyebrow at me.

"Why does that sound so familiar," she blinked rapidly, seemingly deep in thought.

Zell glanced over at me, blushing a deep shade of red, then looked away as soon as he saw me looking at him too.

"Hey Zell, do you know a place like that? I mean, you should know your neighborhood pretty well, right?" Selphie asked. "Uh, Zell?"

Then Irvine erupted in laughter while Zell remained silent, and Selphie looked at him, completely baffled.

"Of course he knows, Squall just described Zell's house!"
