Series: Angel Sanctuary "You stupid moron!" Before Raphael could blink, a powerful, solid punch collided with his jaw, and the sheer impact of the fist threw him to the wall of the hospital room. "How dare you do something so stupid like that!!!!!!!" The archangel of wind could only chuckle sadly, choking back a heavy emotion lodged in his throat. It had only been a few days since he awaked from the hibernation chamber, and Michael was nowhere to be found ever since he was dispatched to the intensive care unit. Barbiel was all over him for a few days continuously, fussing over him as if he had just awaken from the dead, which, he practically did. It had been ten years since the war between heaven and hell came to a halt. Everyone had thought the fighting stopped only momentarily, but surprisingly, there were no hostile interactions between heaven and hell since the day God was destroyed. As a matter of fact, there hadn't been any interactions between the two at all. "You tell that woman that you want me to wait for you before we can continue this fight, well now you're awake. SO TELL ME WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?" Michael's voice carried throughout the entire hospital, but nobody was insane enough to be in any of the rooms adjacent to the Raphael's recovery room. Although short, the firey redhead was now standing over the ruffled blonde. Raphael gazed up at what the most familiar face eched permanently in his memory. "Mika-chan..." "Don't 'Mika-chan' me, you bastard! That was the stupidest thing you have ever done in your life! Is that woman really that important to you? Did you ever think about yourself first?" "Barbiel is important to me, and if ten years is what it took out of my life to revive her, I would do it all over again," he stated in a calm composure in contrast to Michael, whose ears were practically spouting steam. "So now you're geting all worked up over these women, huh? First the messiah's woman and now this one! I'm not going to help you with this crap anymore, from now on, it's your own problem!" And with that, the boy general kicked down the wall next to Raphael's head and stormed out of the room via the crumbling hole, demolishing any other wall that stood in his way of getting out of the hospital. Raphael sighed. Yes, things had changed drastically for him, even before he suffered life-threatening injuries during the war, but it seemed that Michael was still the same. For the ten years he had been recovering in the hibernation chamber, he was actually glad his Mika-chan didn't move on without him, didn't forget about him. He still had the same anger in him, the same fire that burned brightly and shone on everyone around him, even if it meant having to rebuild all the walls he keeps breaking. Barbiel rushed into the room not a moment later than when Michael's kicks could be heard five broken walls away, and Raphael smiled at the entrance of the woman he loved. Somewhere in the back of his head, though, he was still thinking about Michael, like what he had been doing for the past ten years. ----- Some nerve that perverted doctor had! The archangel of fire lived up to his name for sure, as Michael had a knack for flying his ship and destroying areas whenever he was angry, or just whenever he felt like it. With Anima Mundi in control of heaven, Michael had been assigned the task of demolishing any area of ruined buildings that hadn't been been completely reduced to rubble yet, so that when the construction teams came around, they would have a clear ground to work with rather than have to blow up remains of buildings. Of course, that was just a legitimate excuse Anima Mundi gave for not being able to control Michael's rampages in the last ten years. At least Michael refrained from blowing up areas with occupants in them, most of the time anyway. "Promise my ass, he made that promise all on his own, making me wait all that time. He should know that I can't wait that long!" He clenched his fists and threw his feet up on the control panel of his ship, not caring whether he was hitting a critical control or not. He had not been this angry since last month when he was sitting in the intensive care unit, staring at Raphael's placid face through the glass case. "Who would've agreed to a stupid promise like that anyway!" Then he thought of how he actually abided by it and sat waiting for so many days, weeks, months. "Bastard! He's probably flirting it up with that nurse already, just thinking about it makes me angry!" "Michael-sama, please report to the Great Hall as soon as possible. This is Raziel, over and out." Growling to himself, he glanced at the radio intercom and snapped his head out of convoluted thoughts. He then swung his feet off the controls and grabbed ahold of the steering mechanism and swerved the ship towards Anima Mundi's headquarters. ----- "Michael-sama, I heard that Raphael-sama has regained conciousness. How is he doing?" Raziel inquired, sitting behind his desk, which has previously belonged to Zaphkiel. "Raphael's well enough to be up and flirting with women again, if that's what you want to know," the redhead muttered. Raziel's blue eyes softened visibly and he let out a long sigh of relief. Raphael had done so much for heaven during the war, and lately, it had been constantly on his mind to personally go thank the archangel once he awoke. Raziel was now in charge of keeping heaven in order now that things were relatively peaceful. Politics were never quite peaceful, but that was expected. Overall, most of the angels had accepted him in the high thrones position, not only because of his father, but also because he proved to be a firm and just leader since the war ended. "I'm glad to hear that. I'd like to go visit him sometime. Anyway, the reason why I called him up here is that I have a new mission for the two of you, so please hear me out." "The two of us?" But Raziel ignored him and continued. "Uriel-sama hasn't been communicating with us from Hades for quite a while now, but I've heard rumours that the time of Alexiel-sama's awakening is rapidly approaching. I would like to get more information about this as well as the current condition of Hades. As the elemental angels, I think Raphael-sama and you would be the appropriate people to send on this mission." "Just because we're elementals doesn't mean that you should send us! And what the heck, sending Raphael down so soon, he just woke up!" "Well, I'll go and visit him to make sure he's fit for the mission first. If not, I can muster some diplomats to send, but I really rather send the two of you instead. I trust you two more than any of these high-ranking officials to come back with the information I need." "Why is this so important? You don't think Alexiel would be leading the demons to go to war with us again, do you?" The blonde shook his head. "No, that's not why I'm worried, but I thought I'd tell you that much. Actually, I have time right now, would you accompany me to see Raphael-sama now?" Michael quirked a brow at the leader of the high thrones. In the short years that he had been watching over heaven's activity, Raziel had become less rash. He himself, however, did not get any less impulsive and emotional though. "Let's go then," Michael rolled his eyes for a second and gestured for Raziel to follow him. "In your ship?" Raziel blinked, looking slightly horrified, although Michael didn't notice the look in his eyes. "What, you want to go visit with your entourage or something?" "No, I was going to say we could just walk there. It's not that far..." ----- Barbiel smiled down at her patient, who was once her doctor. The blond-haired green-eyed beauty could never be mistaken for a female, yet his beauty rivaled the looks of one. Raphael smirked up at Barbiel before pulling her down and kissing her, long and deep. The two were still fully clothed, which was rather odd for Raphael, even if it had been ten years. Not like the years had made him any less active, but he held off on seducing the head of the medical department while he was still recovering. Not that he had any intention of seducing her again, as she already loved him, and he, her. Their kiss was disrupted by the usual sight and sound of interruption, the short redhead and his loud, energetic voice. Raziel was twitching involuntarily at all the crumbled walls of the hospital they had just walked through, although Michael did not notice once. Barbiel lifted herself off Raphael quickly and recomposed herself, then bowed at Raziel's arrival. "Raziel-sama, have you come to check on Raphael-sama today?" "You bastard, couldn't hold off the hormones, could you?" "Yes I did, Barbiel-san. Thank you for taking such good care of Raphael-sama for so long." "It was my pleasure," she beamed, and Michael found her smile irritating. Raphael promptly got off the hospital bed and bowed at Raziel as well, not responding to Michael's remark. "Raziel, I heard about your promotion from Barbiel. I must say you have been doing a fine job while I was asleep." "Ahhh thanks," Raziel blushed furiously for a moment, then returned to his serious self. "I'm just glad you're okay," he said with a soft smile. "Barbiel-san, may I speak with you for a moment?" "Certainly, Raziel-sama." Barbiel led Raziel through the conventional sliding door and down the hallway. Their quiet conversation could be heard fading away until they entered Barbiel's office three doors down the hall to the right. Michael had propped himself against the side of the broken wall and staring into the ceiling. Raphael cocked his head and walked towards the shorter archangel. "I didn't have a chance to talk really talk to you yet, Mika-chan." "Yeah we did, we settled it earlier," was the quick reply. "Raziel's here to ask you about going on a mission with me to Hades to meet up with Uriel. He's probably checking with Barbiel about your condition first, but I think you should stay here regardless." "... a mission?" Raphael pondered for a moment, then realized the boy, however old he really was, had pushed his previous topic aside. "No wait, we settle this first. I know it's been ten years, but..." "But what? We had this discussion before, there is NOTHING between us, got that? You don't understand, do you? Didn't you get enough time to think it over in those TEN YEARS?" "I'm... sorry," Raphael looked down and away from Michael's face. "I was just worried." Michael fumed and grabbed the taller man by the collar. "Well you can stop that worrying and get back to your normal self. Just stop messing up, okay? If you're going to get serious about that woman, then be serious." The hand released him after their close encounter, and Raphael nodded, looking back to Michael's face, only to find that the redhead was looking away now. "And you, you didn't change at all in those ten years, did you?" "What's it to you?" Michael retorted in an uproar worthy of his element. Raphael smirked and ruffled the already messy, red hair in front of him, much to Michael's annoyance. "I'm glad you're here with me, Mika-chan." "Stop calling me that, didn't I grow any taller?!" "Not really," Raphael chuckled, but he was serious about that much. Michael's expressions seemed to have matured from the last time he saw him, there was more thoughtfulness in his eyes, but his height did not change at all. An overwhelming emotion suddenly overtook him, and he wrapped his arms around the boy's smaller form, which elicited a weird, squeaky gasp from the archangel of fire. "Baka!" "Mika-chan." "Let me go!" "Mika-chan..." "Hentai..." And the barriers that seemed to separate them these past ten years melted away with this strange, unspoken affection. ----- Back in his office and in the loud booming rock music that blared out of his surround sound speakers, Michael had his chair leaning against the back wall and his platform boots crossed over the edge of his desk. A small darkness had been gnawing at the back of his mind, but he didn't think much about it. At first, he thought it was due to the upcoming day of Raphael's awakening, but even after that happened, the darkness just kept growing. "Shit what is this," he grumbled to himself and picked at his right ear, as if expecting that he could pull out the bothersome matter that way. "I haven't had this feeling since... since... ten years ago. But what was it, so many things happened that time..." But no matter how long he sat there alone, drowned in deafening music, he just couldn't figure out what was beginning to eat him away. Footnotes: Ufufufu I think this is going to be an ongoing story. OH NO I DON'T HAVE TIME! But what's written is written. Feedback, anyone? If I get any ideas as to how to continue this, I will, but that will have to wait. For now, this is going to be one lousy written one-shot. XD
