Info: A Game Writing Challenge
(1) Pick any video game that you've played.
(2) Now pick 3 events from that game (Can be from a FMV, cut scene, or ingame scene.)
(3) Now that you have your three events write about what it would be like for a bystander to witness/be involved in said event.
(4) The first drabble can have any number of words in it. However, the second drabble must have less words than the first and the third must have less that the first and second.
First drabble: [453 words] I hauled in Marcel (and his bird Chupi) from Angelique by pure brain crack. Just came to me during class, as I was writing it. Cognitive Psychology does no good for fic writing - causes crossovers. The scene, by the way, happens when Solomon's Tears (Point?) cracks loose and Lunatic Pandora soars over Esthar, if you can't figure that out.
It was about as normal a day can get in Esthar. At least it started that way. President Laguna was very good at keeping peace in the city, and the citizens were thankful, not to mention the myriad of stores in the shopping center. Marcel wandered about from store to store, enjoying what seemed to be a normal day off from tending the gardens of the Garden Palace. Today, he would stop by the Bookstore and get a copy of Pet Lovers volume four. He would read it over dinner while Chupi, his blue bird, would sing him an evening song, and then he would go to sleep early before returning to work the next morning.
It was then that the entire foundation of Esthar shook, no it felt bigger than Esthar. The short ponytailed blonde clutched his basket and fell to his knees in the General Store as the other store occupants all panicked at some level. Discarding the potions and remedies back onto the counter, Marcel quickly dashed outside the door to see what was going on. Everyone outside had stopped what they were doing and were gazing skyward to the east.
"What's going on?" He inquired a bystander with earnest blue eyes, only to be redirected by a pointing finger towards the sky again. At first Marcel didn't notice anything different from the normal wiring that hung over the city, but then he finally saw a huge tower looming the sky over the far east of the city that was slowly, but surely, inching towards them in the west quarters. Within a few minutes of staring and silence, alarms rang off with Doctor Odine's frantic voice.
"Evacuate zee area! Pozzible destruction of zee city! Evacuate to zee nearest exit pozzible!"
Everybody who had heard the announcement stood still for what seemed to last a few minutes when reality was a mere milliseconds, then panic broke out again, this time multitudes worse than before. Frantic people running knocked Marcel to the floor, and nobody bothered to help him up. His mind raced as his shoulder hit the cold floor, should he go home and quickly gather his essential possessions? Did he have enough time to get home and still make it out of the city in time? Ducking aside of trampling feet, the teenager finally picked himself up and started running in the direction of his home in the eastern quarters of the city. Was this the end of his beloved city? He certainly wasn't the type who could fend for himself for long outside the bounds of the city, with the assorted monsters waiting outside, and he didn't have anyone to left except Chupi. What was to become of him?
