Weiß Kreuz started off as a manga series by Tsuchiya Kyoto. Somehow and at some point, Koyasu Takehito took the series into his hands and created the anime series, starting with Weiß Kreuz Kapital. A two-episode OVA was released after the end of the season of Kapital. Later on, Weiß Kreuz Gluhen was under production, but due to some legal dispute between Tsuchiya-sensei and Koyasu, the latter separated from Tsuchiya-sensei's designs for the Weiß Kreuz characters. Although the art in Gluhen is different, the characters are still generally the same, continuing on their life after the end of Kapital and the OVA.
